Docklands office marks completion of
London project.
25 Churchill Place development is completed as part of Canary Wharf project.
After well over 20 years of development the Docklands development in London’s Canary Wharf is almost complete. The final project, a 20-storey office tower at 25 Churchill Place, has just finished construction. This was the very last touch to the overall development that has been underway for over two decades.
The new office tower will provide an additional 500,000 square feet of office space to the area. The site is already half leased with the European Medicines Agency leasing half of the overall space. The Canary Wharf Group is hoping to open the development in 2014, by which it expects to have all of the available space leased.
Commenting on the development a Canary Wharf spokesperson said: “Going ahead with Churchill Place is a vote of confidence in Canary Wharf. There’s always boom and bust in the London property market, and we’re expecting a shortage in 2013-14.”
25 Churchill Place is the latest successful development in the London area and marks an improvement in the leasing market. Previously companies, particularly international ones, have been finding it difficult to locate suitable office space within the city due to high interest levels being coupled with a lack of finished developments.
“For its occupiers, Canary Wharf has worked fantastically well – delivering an endless supply of high-quality buildings in a fabulous location and at a price that has not changed materially for a very long time,” commented Drivers Jonas Deloitte managing partner Nick Shepherd.
